Step back in time with our unforgettable Essaouira Guided Day Trip from Agadir. Known historically as Mogador, this beautiful coastal destination is one of the most beloved imperial cities in the Kingdom of Morocco. Originally built by the Portuguese in 1506 and named Castelo Real de Mogador, Essaouira is a brilliant fortress town packed with incredible history, vibrant culture, and stunning ocean views.
Your journey begins bright and early at 7:30 AM. After picking you up, we will drive north along the spectacular Atlantic coast. About 40 minutes into the drive, we will stop to take in a breathtaking panoramic view of Tamri Beach. Along the way, keep your eyes peeled for the famous "flying goats" skillfully climbing the branches of the Argan trees—a highly unique sight native to this region! Before reaching the city, we will also stop at a local Argan Cooperative to learn about the traditional oil-making process.
Once we arrive in Essaouira, the city is yours to discover. You will have plenty of free time to wander through the bustling Souk of the Mogador market, explore the vibrant Medina, and visit the bustling old harbor. History enthusiasts will love exploring the city's wealth of monuments, including the iconic wave-battered city walls, the Genoese-built citadel by the harbor, the historic Medina ramparts, and the famous Harbor Scala. You can even spot authentic Dutch cannons crafted by Adrianus Crans in The Hague way back in 1744!
After enjoying a delicious seafood meal and exploring the charming alleys at your own pace, we will meet back up to begin our return journey at around 3:00 PM, safely arriving back at your hotel in Agadir by approximately 7:00 PM.
Early Pick-up & Coastal Drive
Your journey begins bright and early with a 7:30 AM pick-up from your Agadir hotel. Sit back and relax in our air-conditioned transport as we start our scenic drive north along the beautiful Atlantic coast.
Tamri Beach Panoramic View
About 40 minutes into our drive, we will make our first dedicated photo stop. Stretch your legs and capture breathtaking, panoramic views of the spectacular Tamri Beach and the sweeping ocean horizon.
Flying Goats & Argan Cooperative
Keep your cameras ready to spot the unique Moroccan "flying goats" balancing in the Argan trees along the route! Before reaching the city, we will also stop at a local cooperative to discover the traditional art of making Argan oil.
Free Time to Explore Essaouira
Upon arriving in Mogador, enjoy plenty of free time to explore! Walk the historic Portuguese ramparts, visit the bustling old harbor, and get lost in the charming, blue-and-white alleys of the vibrant Medina and Souk.
Lunch in the Old City
Take a break from sightseeing to enjoy a delicious local meal. Essaouira is incredibly famous for its fresh seafood, making it the perfect spot to grab lunch near the harbor or deep within the old city walls.
Return Journey to Agadir
After a memorable day exploring the imperial city, meet back up with your driver at 3:00 PM. We will begin our scenic drive back down the coast, with an estimated arrival at your Agadir hotel around 7:00 PM.
